About the Role
• Provide one-to-one support to children and youths with special needs.
• Engage in age-appropriate activities and educational programs.
• Always ensure the well-being and safety of children and youths.
• Prepare and serve meals and snacks to children and youths.
• Maintain a clean and organized space.
• Support with daily personal care and administering medication.
• Must be able to follow safety plans, complete incident reports and follow all protocols.
• Follow the client care plans and ensure that administrative duties are completed within the required time frames.
Salary: $18.00-$25.00 per hour
Schedule:
Day shift
Evening shift
Monday to Friday
Morning shift
Night shift
On call
Weekends as needed
Experience:
Human Services: 2 years (required)
Licence/Certification:
• First Aid Certification (required)
• CPI (required)
• UMAB (required)
Requirements
A Human Services Diploma (i.e., Child & Youth Worker, Social Service Worker, Developmental Service Worker, Personal Support Worker, Addictions and Mental Health Worker, etc.)
Minimum of 2 years experience working with individuals diagnosed with ASD, mental health or special needs.
Experience writing incident reports, serious occurrences, report taking, and daily logs.
Clinical skills, including experience and ability to work with and manage difficult behaviours.
Ability to carry out Safety Plans and Client Care Plans
Vulnerable Sector Search within six months
Criminal Background Check
Must have certification in crisis intervention (i.e., CPI, UMAB, etc)
First Aid and CPR Level C required.
Valid G License and access to a reliable vehicle preferred.
Ability to work various shifts with minimal notice
